Terbutaline Sulfate Tablets

Function and Efficacy

This product is an adrenergic receptor agonist that can selectively stimulate beta 2-receptors, thereby relaxing bronchial smooth muscles, inhibiting the release of endogenous spasm-inducing substances and edema caused by endogenous mediators, improving the clearance ability of bronchial mucosal ciliated epithelial cells, and also relaxing uterine smooth muscles.

Ingredients

Terbutaline sulfate. Its chemical name is: (±) a-[(tert-butylamino)methyl]-3,5-dihydroxybenzyl alcohol sulfate (2:1)

Appearance

This product is white tablets.

Indication

Suitable for bronchial asthma, chronic bronchitis, emphysema and other lung diseases accompanied by bronchospasm.

Usage and Dosage

Oral administration. For adults, take 1.25 mg (half a tablet) 2 to 3 times a day for the first 1 to 2 weeks. Later, the dosage can be increased to 2.5 mg (1 tablet) 3 times a day. Children should follow the doctor's advice when taking the drug.

Adverse Reactions

The degree of adverse reactions depends on the dose and route of administration. Gradually increasing the dose from a small dose to the therapeutic dose can often reduce adverse reactions. Tremor, headache, nausea, tonic spasm, tachycardia and palpitations have been reported, which are all characteristics of sympathomimetic amines. If these adverse reactions occur, most of them disappear naturally within 1 to 2 weeks of starting medication. This product can selectively stimulate 2 receptors. For all 2 receptor agonist drugs, arrhythmias have been reported in very few cases, such as atrial fibrillation, supraventricular tachycardia and premature beats. Rash and urticaria adverse reactions may occur. Sleep disorders and behavioral disorders, such as irritability, hyperactivity, and restlessness, have also been found.

Precautions

It is contraindicated for those who are allergic to this product.

Special Population Medication

Precautions for children: The dosage for children under 12 years old and pediatrics has not been established. Precautions for pregnancy and lactation: Because it can relax uterine smooth muscle, it can inhibit uterine activity and delivery in pregnant women, so it should be used with caution. Precautions for the elderly:

Drug Interactions

1. The concurrent use of other adrenergic receptor agonists can increase the efficacy, but adverse reactions may also be aggravated. 2. The concurrent use of theophylline drugs can increase the efficacy, but adverse reactions such as palpitations may also be aggravated. 3. Non-selective beta-receptor blockers (including eye drops) may partially or completely inhibit the effects of this drug. 4. beta-2 receptor agonists may cause hypokalemia, and the concurrent use of xanthine derivatives, steroids and diuretics will aggravate this effect.
