Ceric ammonium nitrate (CAN) is the inorganic compound with the formula (NH4)2Ce(NO3)6. This orange-red, water-soluble cerium salt is a specialised oxidizing agent in organic synthesis and a standard oxidant in quantitative analysis.

Ceric ammonium nitrate is used as a volumetric oxidizing reagent in many oxidation-reduction titrations. Cerium(IV) ion is a strong oxidant similar to permanganate ion. It is the most widely-used primary standard among all Ce(IV) compounds. Other applications of this compound are in organic oxidation reactions; and as a catalyst in polymerization of olefins.

Storage:

Store in a ventilated and dry warehouse. Do not store in shed or open air. Keep away from moisture. When loading and unloading transportation, should be rain-proof, to ensure that dry, packing from damage and pollution. Ventilation and low temperature drying; Store separately from the food raw materials in the warehouse.
