Product Introduction:
BTO-RD is a synthetic layered silicate. It is insoluble in water, but can hydrate and expand in water or aqueous alcohol solutions to form a colorless and transparent limb dispersion. When the concentration in water is 2% or more, high thixotropic gel can be formed.

Product Application:
Used in water-based formulations to impart a sensitive colloidal structure with shear thinning viscosity, including home care and industrial surface coatings.

Usage method:
BTO-RD is also an excellent thixotropic agent in organic solvents The amount of solvent should be limited to or not exceed the following concentrations: methanol 50% ethanol 30% isopropanol 30% ethylene glycol 50%

BTO-RD requires mixing with water systems or water under high shear conditions Generally, BTO-RD is added to the system before other components are added. After dispersion or grinding, other components are added. BTO-RD can also be configured as top gel and then water is added.

If softened water is used, its adhesion will gradually increase within 24 hours, while in hard water, its viscosity increases very quickly. Using warm water is more conducive to dispersion.

Compared with the pure water system, the system using water and solvent has a higher viscosity. The more organic solvents, the transparency and stability of the system have decreased. BTO-RD top gel is stable under neutral and alkaline conditions. It has the best effect, and its PH value is between 5.5-13. BTO-RD is not suitable for acidic constitution.

Storage:
BTO-RD products are hygroscopic, so they must be stored under dry conditions
