Application

Acrolein is mainly used in the production of pesticides and insecticides, imidacloprid; pharmaceutical antineoplastic drug dibromopropanal; feed additive methionine; fungicide glutaraldehyde;

Acrolein can be oxidized to produce acrylic acid, which can be further converted into acrylate, and can be reduced to produce propanol.

It is an important intermediate for the synthesis of glycerin, spices and medicines, allylthiourea and allyl isothiohydrogenate.

Acrolein can also be used in other organic synthesis.
