What is XYLITOL /Xylitol?

Xylitol is a natural sweetener derived from plants, such as birch bark, corn cobs, berries, oats, mushrooms and sugar cane bagasse... etc. It is a great alternative to sugar as it has a low glycemic index and helps prevent tooth decay. It shows white crystalline powder with the melting point: 92°C-96°C, the boiling point: 216°C, and easily soluble in water. It is roughly as sweet as sucrose with 33% fewer calories.
The most common application of xylitol is in chewing gum and mints. It helps freshen breath and reduces the growth of bacteria in the mouth, which can lead to cavities. Xylitol is also used in some toothpaste, mouthwash, and nasal spray products.
Aside from its dental benefits, xylitol has been shown to help regulate blood sugar levels and improve bone density. It can also be used in cooking and baking as a sugar substitute.
