Calcium metaborate is a white crystal, slightly soluble in water, soluble in olefinic acid, alkaline in water solubility, irritating to skin and mucous membranes. It is used to make alkali-free glass, and its performance is superior to that of boric acid. It can increase tensile strength, resistivity, and reduce boron volatility. It can be used as a component of fire retardant coatings and anti-rust coatings. It is also used to improve efficiency in fuel oils such as gasoline and diesel. It is used to reduce friction in lubricating oils and is also a raw material for antifreeze. In addition, it is also used as a catalyst, preservative, bactericide, etc. in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries.
