Description

Nitric oxide is a yellow-green toxic gas with strong irritating odor. It’s a nitroxide compound with a valence of +2. A gas insoluble in water. Because nitrogen oxide contains free radicals, it is chemically very reactive. When it reacts with oxygen, it forms a corrosive gas called nitrogen dioxide (NO2), which reacts with water to form nitric acid.
