Lotilaner (CAS 1369852-71-0), also known is a first-in-class isoxazoline ectoparasiticide that acts as a highly selective modulator of arthropod GABA-gated chloride channels . It appears as a white to off-white solid powder with the molecular formula C₂₀H₁₄Cl₃F₆N₃O₃S and a molecular weight of 596.76 g/mol .
With a purity of ≥98.0% by HPLC, Lotilaner was originally developed by Elanco Animal Health (formerly Novartis Animal Health) and is marketed under the brand names Credelio (veterinary oral chewable for dogs) and XDEMVY (human ophthalmic solution) . In 2023, the U.S. FDA approved XDEMVY (lotilaner ophthalmic solution 0.25%) for the treatment of Demodex blepharitis in humans . The compound is also under investigation for malaria vector control applications
