Bromopyrogallol red Use and Manufacturing

Methods of Manufacturing

It is derived from pyrogallol red by bromination. Suspend pyrogallol red in glacial acetic acid, heat to boiling, and add bromine acetic acid solution dropwise with stirring. After the reaction, it is cooled to room temperature, filtered, washed with glacial acetic acid to remove free bromine, dried, and recrystallized with a mixture of glacial acetic acid and acetone to obtain the finished product.

Uses

Used as color reagent for cobalt, nickel, thorium, niobium and other metals; complex titration indicator for rare earth metals.
