    Description

    Colorless liquid. Decomposed by hot water; stable to cold water. Soluble in methanol alcohol, ether, and benzene. Methyl chloroformate is a colorless liquid with an unpleasant, acrid odor. This is a highly corrosive and flammable material.

    Product Usage

    Chloroformic Acid Methyl Ester is used in the synthesis of a new class of potent Cdk4 inhibitors in the treatment of cancer. Also used in the synthesis of Phorboxazole B.

    Production Methods

    The preparation method is obtained by reacting methanol and phosgene. The process is carried out in the reaction tower, methanol enters the esterification tower from the bottom side of the esterification tower, and phosgene enters the esterification tower from the other side, keeping the molar ratio of phosgene to methanol (1.05~1.1):1. The reaction temperature is 35-40°C. At this time, the content of methyl chloroformate in the synthesis liquid is >90%, and the yield can also reach more than 90%. Reaction equation: CH3OH+COCl2→ClCOOCH3+HCl If the molar ratio of methanol is slightly larger, dimethyl carbonate may be generated. In addition, if the product of methyl chloroformate is to be obtained, the reaction solution is cooled to room temperature, and the remaining phosgene is driven off with nitrogen to destroy the tail gas.
