Description

Sodium sulfate decahydrate is white to colorless crystals with a molecular weight of 322.2 g/mol, a density of 1.46 g/cm3, a melting point of 32.4°C, a weight loss after desorption of water, and no true boiling point. It is soluble in water, and its solubility increases with increasing temperature. Sodium sulfate decahydrate is a salt compound, which contains 2 sodium ions (Na+) and 1 sulfate ion (S04^2-) in its molecule. When dissolved in water, Sodium sulfate decahydrate completely dissociates into sodium ions and sulfate ions. It has a neutral pH value of about 7.

Sodium sulfate decahydrate Use and Manufacturing

Uses

Sodium sulfate decahydrate is widely used in the manufacture of soaps, detergents, cellulose, and pigments. It can be used as a raw material for the preparation of pickling baths and acidic cleaning agents, which are widely used in metal processing and surface treatment. Sodium sulfate decahydrate is also an important auxiliary agent in the glass industry, used to increase the viscosity of glass solutions. Sodium sulfate decahydrate is often used in the preparation of chemical reactions and analytical reagents in laboratories. It can be used as a desiccant to absorb moisture from the surrounding environment, making the reaction conditions more controllable. Sodium sulfate decahydrate can also be used in laboratory operations such as precipitation of metal ions and adjustment of the ion concentration of solutions.
