I don't have any special experience with protein digestions but I did quite a lot of digesting for ICP analysis. I think the main reason for digesting your sample is to avoid clogging of the ICP nebulizer. It should be no problem to extract most metals from your protein by any acid digestion (aqua regia, HNO3, HNO3/H2O2, ... /open, microwave, ...). Just remember to filtrate the digestion and to use a standard matching your solution. To be on the save side try different digestions and compare your results. Perhaps you can even find a suitable reference material. Good luck, Ulrich
