Can someone tell me which ingredient causes the chalky taste please? I'm on the hunt for a new supplier but can't afford to taste test them all!

Silicon Dioxide for sure. If you are making your own just use caffeine and calcium carbonate and ascorbic acid as a base - it will cost peanuts to make.

For the slightly chalky one, it does not state which specific complexes (salts) are used for each supplement, so there may be more calcium salts, which can give an unpleasant texture.

If you're looking for a better-tasting "gamer fuel," you might try eating some fruits and vegetables.
Let me guess, its basically caffeine and a bunch of other compounds that have very, very tenuous associations with "reflexes" or "focus" or some shit?More
This is the first time I've heard of the bullshit supplement/nutrition industry specifically targeting gamers and I love it. Absolutely amazing. "Gaming drinks". It's like the marketing department were having an internal competition about the most audacious bullshit they could get away with.More

Most likely the calcium and magnesium salts listed here. And maybe if its more of a floury taste the maltodextrin as well based on how much might be in it.

I'm not sure what you mean by chalky. It might be maltodextrin which can get kinda 'clumpy'. Some people find that calcium salts tend to get a chalky taste when high concentrated.

I don't think it's that because maltodextrin is present in Sneak (the first picture) and I love the stuff, it's like mixing a cordial and water. There's no bad taste at all, I even find myself drinking at 11pm because it goes down so easily!More

Taste chemistry is pretty wild. Mixing different things gives different taste, but give it a try by removing those and let us know how it goes! For science.

Taste (and scent) chemistry is indeed wild. What was it? Rotten cheese acid + fusil oil alcohol = pear flavor ester?More
