Dear Abigail
May I know the thermodynamics phase of the wax during heat transfer process.  If the wax is used with a plate, let us know the thermal boundary condition as well

The heat transfer coefficient can also be determined from Nusselt number, and most of them is given in the form of correlation for a set of thermal boundary conditions.  Most correlation of Nusselt number is given as a function of Reynolds number and Prandtl number, where the property of the wax is mainly assigned to the Prandtl number.  If the wax is solid it is unlikely you will be able to find any functional relationship that allow you to extract the value of heat transfer coefficient, because conduction heat transfer is dominating the energy transport in the wax. 
But there is a special topic in conduction heat transfer that refer to resistance of heat flow in a solid material.  This is not refer to heat transfer coefficient but 'Overall Heat Transfer Coefficient with the unt oif W/sq.m degC).
