How can dicyclohexyl urea be removed from reaction mass?

In most solvents, DCU is insoluble and precipitates out of solution as the reaction proceeds. It is a good indicator that your reaction is working !!! At the end of the reaction, you can just filter it off.

  • if you use DCM you can simply filter the solution as DC urea is solid

Dc urea is low soluble in non-polar organic sovents suc as CCl4. hexane etc, So if yuor product is soluble in such sovents, it is no problem to remove DC urea. If not,,,, there some other metods. For example DC-urea is soluble in stong water-alcali medium
