Awani, after you get an XRD course or at least take a tutorial sopported by a good textbook that will give you the basic knowledge, for example Cullity or Giancovazzo, I am sure you will come back with more specific questions on technical details or looking for specific issues on your materials that many people will be glad to answer. There are many open source softwares like FULLPROF, MAUD etc, With the help of these programs and Crystallographic infromation files , one can analyse peaks (indexing, QPA etc), URL given below may be helpful http://www.ccp14.ac.uk/mirror/mirror.htm

Being an XRD Mineralogist myself, I recommend you to get help from specialists. Interpretations of XRD patterns are not easy often and needs precise knowledge, sometimes years of experience is not enough!

perhaps opening a good book on X-ray diffraction could be a good start... You can get a zillion answers from here but it's hard to follow them (or hard to make things always correct) if you don't have the basics of the technique. Opening another book on experimental data handling is also a good idea. Why on Earth would you need to smooth the curve for the analysis?
