How can I identify sodium azide and do a purity level test?

Daniel Wigersma  Follow

The analysis of azide is straightforward via ion chromatography. Pretty much any IC column designed for separation of anions can be used for the assay. The analysis of sodium can be done by IC as well or it can be analyzed using ICP, ICP-MS or AA. The purity of sodium azide can be determined using high quality analytical standards for both sodium and azide.

Mawa or khoya used in preparing desserts or sweets may be adulterated with a number of ingredients like flour, starch, suji or semolina or even blotting paper. There are many harmful ingredients including urea, palm oil or detergent that are added to give a thick and rich texture to mawa. When people consume sweets made from these, they subject themselves to huge health risk. Here in this article, we are sharing how you can check the purity of the mawa before consuming it. there are some tips to check purity of khoya

1.This is a simple trick to find out if your khoya is adulterated with starch. Put the freshly purchased mawa in some hot water. Allow it to cool and add a little bit of iodine in this solution. If mawa turns blue, then it is adulterated with starch

2.Fresh and unadulterated mawa has an oily and grainy texture. Rub it on your palms to check for sweetness and tartness. If it tastes slightly sweet and leaves your hand greasy then it is adulterated..
