How do I find a conjugate base and acid?
For any weak acid, the conjugate base will have lost one H+. So, the conjugate base of H2SO3 is HSO3-.
For any weak base, the conjugate acid will always have gained one H+. So, for NH3, the conjugate acid is NH4+
So, just look at the chemical equation of an acid-base reaction. From one side to the other, one reactant will have lost an H+. That is the acid, and its form on the right is its conjugate base. The other reactant will have have gained an H+.
