K2Cr2O7 = 294 g/mol

equive weight = 294/6 = 49 in a solution

0.1 N = X/49 / V

  • In acidic medium K2Cr2O7 reacts as follows.
  • K2Cr2O7 + 4 H2SO4 =========> K2SO4+ Cr2(SO4)3+ 4H2O +3(O)
  • So Equivalent Mass of K2Cr2O7= Mol.Wt/6= 294.186/6= 49.03
  • So weigh 49.03/10= 4.903 g of K2Cr2O7 accurately and take in a 1- Litre standard flask and dissolve well with distilled water. Then add distilled water up to the mark and shake well for uniform concentration.
  • You have now 0.1N Standard Solution of K2Cr2O7.
  • If you want 250 ml or 100 ml of 0.1N K2Cr2O7, then weigh accordingly (4.903/4= 1.224) or (4.903/10= 0.4903) g of K2Cr2O7 and then make in 250 ml or 100 ml standard flasks accordingly.
  • You will get 0.1N K2Cr2O7.
