How do I prepare a 1:1 solution of 0.1M hydrochloric acid?

I see it this way:

1:1

1/2 solute

1/2 solvent

0.1M = 0.1 mol / 1 L

0.05 mol / 0.5 L = 0.1 M

0.05 mol x 36.5 = 1.825 g

m= %CDV

1.825 = 0.37 x 1.19V

V = 4.14 mL

Take this volume from the concentrated acid and dilute it till the final volume of 500 mL

It means take one volume of concentrated hydrochloric acid and mix with one volume of water, doesn't matter what the volume is, it is the same as 50% dilution.
For example 10mL of acid mixed with 10mL of water is a 1:1 dilution or a 1+1 dilution or a 50% dilution.

This question makes no sense.

1:1 implies a ratio. If 0.1 M HCl is one half of the ratio, what is the other half?? Water? Ethanol? Methanol? Sulfuric acid?

Easy !

Molarity = moles of solute / volume of solution (in l)

Moles of solute= given mass of solute /molar mass of solute

Say you have to make 0.1 molar solution in 1 litre of water

Put values

0.1= x/36.5

X= 0.1 × 36.5 =3.65 gm

So u have to add 3.65 gm of HCl in 1 litre of water to make 0.1 molar solution
