I am not sure if this could really help you out.
Measure the solvent-accessible surface area (SASA) of the system (i) keeping gold nanoparticles in it (V_Total) and (ii) after removing the gold nanoparticles (V_w/o_gold). Then subtract (V_w/o_gold) from V_Total, this will give you the surface area of gold nanoparticles.
