You can use the HCl acid10% to remove the carbonate by dissolved and the SiO2 remains ,but this way not separate method ,I think you can do(separate) by density method

Hi. I would like to ask whether any difference between using 10% and 37% HCl solution. In my case, I used 10 ml HCl 37% to remove calcium carbonate from silica in pvc membrane filter. I added 10ml HCl and 5ml 2-propanol. After washing sufficiently with 30ml water, I left the filter in the oven at 600oC for 2h. I lost about 60-70% silica. IR spectrum showed some unknown peaks and CaCO3 peaks

You have a lot of calcium carbonate material to get rid of. The acid treatment as suggested by Prof. Falah Abed Al-Miamary would be one good way to separate out the SiO2, but maybe expensive.

By Wash the sample with diluted hydrochloric acid at a concentration of 10% to dissolve the carbonate materials and keep the silica materials.
