I have been told relentlessly about white powder gold or monatomic gold, supposedly single gold atoms turned into a powder. I find no evidence from any reputable source that this is even possible. can a gold molecule be separated into single atoms?

To answer your last question first, gold does not exist in a molecular state. There are certain pure elements that do exist as diatomic molecules, however gold isn’t one of them. Gold, like many metals, can either exist in am amorphous state or in a crystalline form. Atomic gold can exist, however typically it is found in nature as nuggets, where gold atoms “bind” together to form a clump. This is not binding into molecules. It is possible to create gold nano-particles, which are very small clumps of gold atoms. See:
