Is mixing sodium hypochlorite and lactic acid dangerous?

Cheating - Spouse/Partner  Follow

Very dangerous. Even moderately strong acids, such as acetic, citric or lactic acids, will convert hypochlorite anions to molecular chlorine. It may be visible as greenish gas. If you breathe it, it will damage your lungs or even kill you (chlorine was used as a war gas in WW1).

Do not experiment with sodium hypochlorite or products that contain this chemical.
