Is sodium alginate the same as MSG?

Chris Forgan  Follow

NO

MSG is mono sodium glutamate ;

Sodium alginate is something completely different :

Sodium alginate is a cell wall component of marine brown algae, and contains approximately 30 to 60% alginic acid. The conversion of alginic acid to sodium alginate allows its solubility in water, which assists its extraction. ( from Science-direct )
