separating benzyl bromide and product spots on tlc
You only have so many options for columns. Generally you’re looking at different solvent mixtures, different stationary phases (SiO2, alumina, C18, etc) and some times gradient solvent elution. If your compound is thermally stable you might be able to vacuum distill you the benzyl bromide off

however, i think i need to separate the tlc spots first. because how would i know if my products has already purified and separated if the spots overlap. the problem is i can’t seem to find the right solvent system to separate the spots that are very close to one another.More
