What is poured into a burette, acid or base?
Yes. Or in some cases EDTA (of course, that is an acid, but that's not why we use it). You use a strong acid to find base concentration and a strong base to find an acid concentration.
I'm guessing this is a pre-lab question for a gen chem experiment. Which answer is correct will depend on the experiment.

You can read the used amount of liquid from the burett directly. Simple!
If the burett of say 50 ml will be graduated from the top, and the used amount of liquid indicates say 37.8 ml then the titration used up 50.0 ml - 37.8 ml = 12.2 ml
In the burett starts at 0 graduation at the top ……12.2 ml will show the usage immediately! Logical huh?

In titration of HCl with Na2CO3 , we need to find the concentration of HCl so it is an analyte, but we fill it in burette, and we take solution of Na2CO3 in our flask.

When it was necessary to use the alkali in the burette a rubber pinchcock was used instead of a stopcock because the stopcock might “freeze up.” With borosilicate glass and Teflon stopcock plugs, the problem hardly exists anymore.
