What is sodium tetrahydroxogallate (III)?

Charles Offiong  Follow

Electrolysis aqueous solution sodium tetrahydroxogallate(III)

4Na[Ga(OH)4] → 4Ga + 3O2 + 6H2O + 4NaOH

[ Check the balance ]

Electrolysis aqueous solution sodium tetrahydroxogallate(III) to produce gallium, oxygen, water and sodium hydroxide.

Source: Na[Ga(OH)4] = Ga + O2 + H2O + NaOH

Gallium(III) oxide react with sodium hydroxide and water to produce sodium tetrahydroxogallate(III). Sodium hydroxide needs to be concentrated and the reaction proceeds under elevated temperature

The reaction equation is:

Ga2O3 + 2NaOH + 3H2O → 2Na[Ga(OH)4]
