What is the difference between active control and passive control...
Active control- You vary the stiffness and damping factor of a link connection according to the nature of force applied. It's a close feedback system Passive control- The properties of the link does not change according to force. It's an open-loop system.

active control requires an observer to actively estimate the disturbances and uncertainties in a real-time fashion, while passive control depends totally on the feedback control to cancel the disturbances and uncertainties. see my list of publications below for active disturbance rejection control. https://www.researchgate.net/profile/Ibraheem_Ibraheem3/research

A passive vibration control only uses a passive damper as controller while active vibration control uses an actuator to vary the stiffness and damping of the closed loop system.

In Passive Control, the actions are done by the already designed and fixed control laws but In Active Control, the actions are done by the variable(active) control laws with help of extra tools such as an observer

Welll as the name idicated active vibration control use external force to creat a countre vibration to damp the vibration source while the passive control doesnt required any external force it just use the visco part to damp the vibration hope this answer helps

The comparison between active and passive control is very simple, you can easily say that passive control of vibration uses it internal damping/stiffness to counter or dissipates the vibrations, while the active vibration control requires an external source of energy to do the same.

in active, an extra actuator need it cause to modify stiffness and damping of the system, while in passive, the stiffness and damping are constants
