What is the pH scale of hydrogen peroxide?

Muhammad Zubair  Follow

The pH value of the solution depends on the concentration and the temperature.

A solution which only contains hydrogen peroxide and water can have pH values between approximately 4.3 and 7.0 at 25 °C. The lowest pH value is measured at a percent concentration of roughly wt%=50.

7.0 is the upper limit at infinite dilution.

Commercially available solutions of hydrogen peroxide contain stabilizers which lower the pH value further. pH values of 2.5 to 3.5 are common.

Hydrogen peroxide is naturally acidic with a pH of about 4.5. An acid is added to increase acidity to a pH of about 3.5, which increases the stability. Peroxide must be kept at an acidic pH until it is mixed with alkaline haircolor.

Hydrogen peroxide is naturally acidic with a pH of about 4.5. An acid is added to increase acidity to a pH of about 3.5, which increases the stability. Peroxide must be kept at an acidic pH until it is mixed with alkaline haircolor. The alkalinity of the haircolor triggers the decomposition of the peroxide, which develops the dye in the color and lightens natural hair color.

I drank diluted 35%- it was 250ml water with a maximum of 25 drops of 35% food grade H202. I ramped up from a beginning dose of 2 drops in 250ml to the 25 drops and sustained that for a week at 3x daily. For 6 weeks , I drank H202 three times a day. I believe it was the reason several maladies disappeared. I have friends that did the same routine...they all reported an increased in energy, less mucus, and various personal health issues gone. Lots of anecdotal experiences to read on the web. Brendan in Ireland was inspirational to me for overcoming my hesitation to start the process.

Asking what the pH range is (as was done) would never be a question asked by a chemist because it lacks precision.

Hydrogen peroxide's pH depends on its concentration. It is a very weak acid with pKa's of 11.62 and 11.75.

Hydrogen peroxide is a weak acid with pH 4.5 but pure hydrogen peroxide does not produce H+ ions. There,it has no action on litmus paper i.e.pure hydrogen peroxide pH level is 7.
