What is the smell of Methanol +heptanoic acid?
Any alcohol plus any carboxylic acid combine at varying rates under differing conditions to form esters. Methanol plus heptanoic acid combine ( slowly, at room temperature unless the methanol is greatly in excess of the acid) to form methylheptanoate, which, like all esters, has a mild, pleasant, vaguely floral odor.

Methanol doesn't have a very strong smell but is somewhat similar to the smell of ethanol. Heptanoic acid has a strong rancid odor similar to the smell of spoiled butter.
