Why is cyclobutane aromatic?

Caleb Brunson  Follow

Cyclobutane is not aromatic.

Note that it contains no pi electrons fulfilling the requirements for an aromatic system.

Cyclobutadiene is not an aromatic compound, it is anti-aromatic. Because, it is planar, cyclic, conjugated, but contains 4n π electrons. Aromatic compound would be cyclic, planar, conjugated and should contain 4n+2 π electrons according to Huckel's rule of aromaticity.
