Zinc sulfate is produced by reacting zinc oxide with which substance?

Chris Spring  Follow

You want zinc sulphate

  1. You get the zinc part from zinc oxide
  2. Now you need a source of sulphate. The simplest seems to be : sulphuric acid .
  3. And you can write a balanced equation:
  4. ZnO(s) + H2SO4(aq) → ZnSO4(aq) + H2O(l) .

With sulfuric acid…? And we could write the stoichiometric equation…

[math]ZnO(s) + H_{2}SO_{4}(aq) longrightarrow ZnSO_{4}(aq) + H_{2}O(l)[/math]

I think the heptahydrate, [math]ZnSO_{4}•7H_{2}O[/math], could be crystallized from such a solution…
