Is it safe to take NyQuil and Benadryl at the same time when going to bed?
Hello NaTonya. So here’s the deal with NyQuil. It is a multi-drug liquid . It is designed for achy , coughing, fever and nighttime medication. That’s how there TV advertising goes. The drowsiness comes from the drug Doxylamine succinate . It’s a antihistamine just like diphenhydramine ( Benadryl ) . By combining the two you may be drowsy the next day once you climb out of your bed. If you have taken NyQuil before and you feel like you’re not getting a full nights sleep, I personally would be okay adding a 25mg Benadryl and see if that changes things. However, I would not make any big plans for anything special. Just in case you feel over medicated. I hope this helps?
