What is the difference between sorption and adsorption?
Adsorption is a surface-based process where a film of adsorbate is created on the surface while absorption involves the entire volume of the absorbing substance

Chemisorption ends up by a physical operation called desorption. Note: In industrial chemistry & chemical engineering, a process & an operation are NOT synonems. A process denotes a chemical change while an operation refers to a physical change.

I think mr. Matar is right. Sorption is both adsorption and absorption. Using the term adsorption we are talking on sorption on something. In my article I use the term adsorption of metals on surface of either FeOOH or MnO2. (adsorption can be on many other surface)

I think mr. Matar is right. Sorption is both adsorption and absorption. Using the term adsorption we are talking on sorption on something. In my article I use the term adsorption of metals on surface of either FeOOH or MnO2. (adsorption can be on many other surface)
