How strong are Diazepam 2 mg tablets?

Banti Singh (???? ????)  Follow

I can't believe nobody has brought up the fact that 2mg is barely above the threshold dose for diazepam. This dosage would be expected to produce little to no effects except for people who are particularly sensitive to benzodiazepines (such as the elderly). A typical single dose of diazepam for anti-anxiety or insomnia is 10mg. If someone is starting on a daily diazepam regimen, 5mg twice per day is typical. 2mg pills are almost exclusively used for tapering purposes or for elderly people who are at risk of accumulation effects.

Most people wouldn’t really notice less than 10mg, even if it was new to them. 2mg is a very subtle dose indeed. Equivalent to about half a pint of sprite, with a little dash of lager in the top.
