I believe the most significant revelation in tissue engineering of the new decade will be the use of mathematics to life-like design and interpretation of outcomes experiments in vivo; material science to the formation of smart scaffolds; and data analysis to analyze the unstructured data.

The ability to think outside the box, coupled with knowledge beyond basic science such as information pertaining to translational requirements (design with intention to translate - quality management - regulations-and risk assessment....etc.). Tissue Engineering is a multidisciplinary field after all.
