Will muriatic acid dissolve melted aluminum foil from the bottom of my oven?
I realize many people will say that it is impossible to melt aluminum foil in an oven since ovens do not get hot enough but the truth is yes aluminum foil can melt in an oven when used to line the bottom which covers the heating elements , now how to remove it when it happens ; oven cleaner that is sodium hydroxide based should do the trick. Let it sit for a good 20 minutes. I have also read that using a paste of baking soda and vinegar spread on the foil and left overnight then placing a damp cotton towel over that with the oven turned on 200 for 20 minutes long enough to steam should release the foil from the bottom of your oven.

Per Linda’s answer, wet caustic soda / lye will dissolve aluminum, and also any fats, without much affecting steel or ceramic components of the oven; and is only $2 / lb, or similar :-) If your oven is steel or ceramic (and perhaps non-stick), sprinkle on a lil’ lye, and spritz it, lye will eat aluminum (and turn it into Al(OH)3, which then wipes off — but this chemistry will liberate hydrogen, so don’t smoke while you’re doing this, you might lose your bangs :-)
But, wear gloves and spectacles; and put a very old towel or coat in front of the oven, to absorb any run-off; and don’t leave caustic soda on your hands, it’ll make your skin into soap, which ain’t good :P
Baking soda & vinegar just gets you a fizz; not anything that’ll eat aluminum. So, yeah, unimpressive; don’t bother.
Incidentally, you can test the above lye suggestion, by putting some water, lye and aluminum foil in a glass or stainless-steel bowl; the aluminum will fizz and dissolve, which is what’s wanted.
