What supplements are good to promote cardiac fibroblast growth?
Try buying Fibroblast growth medium (FGM or FGM-2) from Lonza or Promocell. I use it for pulmonary fibroblasts and foreskin fibroblasts and they grow much faster than on simple DMEM+10%FCS. You can try adding bFGF as well (this is the growth factor in the medium I mentioned above, although myself did not tried it alone, just as the part of the FGM medium.)

I add up to 10ng/ml bFGF (also called FGF2) to DMEM supplemented with 10% FCS & Glutamine. The cells grow very well under these conditions. I used from 2 different companies (Peprotech and then a cheaper one, prospec) and both work fine! All the best!

Thanks, Juliane. Will the concentration of bFGF matter, or will more bFGF promote growth faster? I saw from EMD Millipore that 0.1~10 ng/ml is recommended.
