Sinopec Launches Dual Supercomputing Centers to Power Industry Innovation and Boost Tech Efficiency
Sinopec has officially announced the establishment of its Supercomputing Center, unveiling a dual-center layout in Beijing to accelerate digital transformation across its operations. By leveraging existing resources from its exploration and geophysical research institutes, Sinopec is building two cutting-edge supercomputing hubs—one in the north and one in the south—both seamlessly connected for integrated computing power.
These centers will deliver unified, dynamic, and shared supercomputing services to upstream, midstream, and downstream businesses, streamlining management, application access, monitoring, and resource allocation. The goal is to enhance computational efficiency and foster large-scale innovation for high-quality development across the company.
Experts from leading universities, research centers, and technology companies, including Tsinghua, Peking University, and Huawei, participated in the launch event, sharing latest advances and discussing the transformative value of supercomputing for the petrochemical sector. Detailed plans for each center were presented, outlining their unique roles and coordinated development paths.
This strategic move is set to strengthen Sinopec’s digital foundation and position it at the forefront of industry technology.
