New Refinery in Fujairah by Brucci Petroleum of the United Arab Emirates

Bruch Petroleum of the United Arab Emirates awarded the contract for refinery construction to Seine of Spain. On September 13, Brooge Petroleum and Gas Investment Co (BPGIC) of the United Arab Emirates said on Friday that it had signed a contract with SENE Rengineering Group of Spain to build a new refinery in Fujairah.
The refinery will produce fuel that meets the new international law restricting the sulfur content of ship fuel. The company said that the first phase of the planned 250,000 barrels a day (bpd) refinery would be completed in the first quarter of 2020. The new International Maritime Organization (IMO) regulations will require ships to use fuels containing less than 0.5% sulphur from 2020. At present, the pollution of marine fuel is more serious and the sulfur content is higher. Earlier this year, BPGIC went public in Nasdaq after merging with Twelve Seas Investment Co., an American-based investment company. The move is part of the expansion of oil storage companies in the United Arab Emirates.
BPGIC was founded in 2013 and is one of Fujairah's largest holders of warehousing assets. Located outside the Strait of Hormuz, Fujairah is one of the world's largest fuel supply centers.
