Perinephritis
Perinephritis refers to inflammation in the fat tissue between the renal capsule and the perirenal fascia. If the infection forms an abscess, it is called a perinephric abscess. Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli are the most common pathogens. Most of them are caused by the rupture of renal carbuncle or abscess on the surface of the kidney invading the tissue around the kidney. A few cases can also be caused by distant inflammation directly infecting the tissue around the kidney through the blood.
