Ulcerative colitis
Ulcerative colitis (UC), also known as UC for short, has an etiology that has not yet been fully elucidated. It is mainly a chronic nonspecific inflammatory disease that invades the colonic mucosa, often starting from the left colon and progressing gradually to the proximal colon and even the entire colon in a continuous manner. Clinical symptoms vary in severity, with alternations of remission and onset. Patients may only have colonic symptoms or may also have systemic symptoms.
