Leprosy (Leorsy, Lepra) is a chronic infectious disease caused by Mycobacterium leprae. It mainly invades the skin, mucous membranes and peripheral nerves, and can also invade deep tissues and organs. The disease is very prevalent worldwide. It is estimated that there are about 10 million leprosy patients in the world, mainly distributed in Asia, Africa and Latin America. The clinical manifestations are numb skin lesions, thick nerves, and even limb disability in severe cases. The disease is very prevalent in the world, and in my country it is prevalent in provinces and autonomous regions such as Guangdong, Guangxi, Sichuan, Yunnan and Qinghai. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, due to active prevention and control, the disease has been effectively controlled and the incidence rate has dropped significantly. About half of leprosy patients are probably infected by close contact with leprosy infected people. Mycobacterium leprae infection can also be transmitted from soil, contact with armadillos, and even contact with bedbugs and mosquitoes.
