Transient ischemic attack
Transient cerebral ischemic attacks (TCIA) are sudden, transient, reversible neurological dysfunction caused by focal cerebral ischemia. The attack lasts for several minutes and usually recovers completely within 30 minutes. If it exceeds 2 hours, there will often be mild neurological deficits, or CT and MRI will show signs of brain ischemia. The traditional definition of TCIA is recovery within 24 hours. TCIA is more common in people aged 34 to 65 years old, with 25.3% of people over 65 years old, and more men than women. The onset is sudden, often in the case of changes in body position, excessive activity, sudden rotation or flexion and extension of the neck. There is no precursor to the onset, there are transient neurological localization signs, generally no impaired consciousness, lasting 5 to 20 minutes, and can recur, but generally recover completely within 24 hours without sequelae.
