Paronychia
The growth part of the nail is called the nail matrix or nail root, which is covered by the skin. The two sides of the nail are connected to the skin folds to form the nail groove. Paronychia is a suppurative infection at the junction of the two sides of the nail plate and the skin folds. It is one of the common finger (toe) infectious diseases in clinical practice. The pathogen is Staphylococcus aureus on the surface of the skin. It can occur after various minor injuries. Early local anti-inflammatory treatment can control the infection. After the formation of an abscess, it must be incised for treatment.
