Interstitial nephritis, also known as tubulointerstitial nephritis, is a general term for diseases that primarily affect the renal interstitium (including tubules, blood vessels, and interstitium), and does not include diseases that can cause secondary tubular-interstitial damage, such as glomerulonephritis.
