Chest filariasis
Filariasis thorax is caused by the parasitism of Wuchereria bancrofti, Brugia malayi, Dirofilaria immitis or microfilariae in the lymphatic vessels of the chest, which causes lymphatic obstruction and drainage disorder, or lesions of the chest organs caused by microfilariasis or filarial fever; or it is called thoracic organ disease when there are no obvious clinical symptoms but filariae or microfilariae are found in pleural effusion, sputum, lymph nodes, etc. Clinically, fever, cough, bloody sputum, chest pain, shortness of breath, asthma, chylous sputum, chylous pleural effusion, blood eosinophilia, filarial nodules or filarial granulomas are common.
