Primary acute angle-closure glaucoma
Acute primary angel-closure glaucoma (APACG) refers to a type of glaucoma in which the intraocular pressure rises acutely due to the closure of the chamber angle. Because it often causes congestion in the anterior part of the eye during an attack, it was also called "congestive glaucoma" in the past. Pupillary block is the main mechanism of this type of glaucoma, which means that the vast majority of patients with acute angle-closure glaucoma are of the pupillary block type, but a small number of patients are of the non-pupillary block type.
