Primary ovarian carcinoid syndrome refers to the location of primary carcinoid in the ovary. It is a special tumor originating from neuroendocrine cells, also known as argyrochromic cell tumor. Because some of the endocrine substances, including 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT), histamine, dopamine, kinin, prostaglandin E, P, F substances, somatostatin, insulin, endorphin, enkephalin, gastrin, and rare adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH), melanocyte stimulating hormone (MSH), growth hormone, insulin, gastric inhibitory polypeptide, etc., act on different organs of the body, it can cause a group of syndromes such as skin flushing, diarrhea, bronchospasm, capillary dilation, heart damage, etc., called POCS.
